Protecting Marriage in Arizona - by Becca
Posted October 23rd, 2008 by DavidToday I picked up “The Daily Universe” and read an article about Prop 8 for Californians and I found out that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has a website that shows its support of Proposition 8. The link I just put up on my blog is the website about protecting marriage. Although I am not from California, I know that Arizona is voting on Prop 102–I hope everyone votes and everyone votes yes! I received a flier in the mail yesterday encouraging yes votes for Prop 102, and although I suppose it could be considered junk mail, I was EXCITED (and still am) that I got it because protecting marriage is something that I feel really strongly about. Here are some interesting things that I have come across lately if you are interested in learning more:
This video explains why same sex marriage will affect all children and families. The Parker family who asked and were denied parental notification when same sex marriage materials were presented to their 5 year old are interviewed.
Arizonans, vote YES for Prop 102.
I read this article about same sex attraction by Elder Oaks for my religion class on Sunday:
My favorite part is under the section titled Application of Doctrines and Responsibilities. Look for the difference between adjectives and nouns…you may be surprised, but this idea really makes sense. I think it makes sense because it is true.
And again, here is the link I have on my page that is the official website for the Church with respect to Prop 8: http://www.preservingmarriage.org/
Just in case you need any more encouragement, I have always been a fan of The Family: A Proclamation to the World.
I know that we have a responsibility to protect marriage. I am voting YES on Prop 102!
